About Paediatric Surgery
Paediatric Surgeons are the only surgeons who specialise in diagnosing, treating, and managing children’s surgical needs (usually up to the age of 16 years). Dr Anthony Dilley and Dr Carolyn Russell are fully qualified medical practitioners with additional training and postgraduate qualifications in surgery.
Specialist paediatric surgeons, such as Dr Dilley and Dr Russell, usually deal with general paediatric surgery, non-cardiac thoracic (chest) surgery and paediatric urology (urinary system). As well, their responsibilities include involvement in the antenatal (before birth) management of congenital (present at or before birth) structural abnormalities, neonatal (newborn) surgery and oncological (cancer) surgery for children.
Paediatric surgeons treat children from newborn babies through to late adolescence. We work closely with your GP and paediatrician who will usually make the initial recommendation for your child to see a surgeon.

As a team, we are able to provide continuous care. While you will primarily be cared for by one surgeon, our teamwork ensures that should they be unavailable, another member of the team can ensure prompt accessible care.
